Nestled in the vibrant Mission Bay area of San Francisco, Neighbor Bakehouse is a delightful bakery that has quickly become a local favorite for those craving unique and delectable pastries. With its charming façade and inviting atmosphere, this bakery is more than just a place to grab a quick bite; it's a cozy den for culinary adventure where creativity meets tradition.

At Neighbor Bakehouse, each pastry is crafted with care and precision. Their menu boasts a range of innovative offerings that have garnered rave reviews from locals and visitors alike. The char siu croissant stands out as a must-try, blending the flaky texture of a classic French croissant with the savory goodness of char siu pork, creating a mouthwatering experience that transcends traditional breakfast fare. Fans of sweet treats won't want to miss the ube croissant, a stunning purple pastry filled with rich ube cream, or the pistachio blackberry croissant that's both visually stunning and deliciously satisfying.

The bakery's atmosphere is equally inviting. As you step inside, you're greeted by the warm, comforting aroma of freshly baked goods wafting through the air—an irresistible prelude to the indulgence that awaits. The friendly staff, noted by customers for their collaborative spirit and willingness to help you navigate the day’s offerings, create a welcoming environment that makes each visit feel personal. Whether you're stopping by on a weekday morning or a leisurely weekend afternoon, the bustle of fellow pastry enthusiasts only adds to the delightful experience.

While some reviewers have noted occasional hiccups in service, such as a slightly delayed opening on a busy Sunday morning, these rare instances do not overshadow the overall enjoyment of visiting Neighbor Bakehouse. For instance, Nicholas Pun describes the bakery as "amazing" with "super unique pastries," highlighting the daily rotations of specials that keep things fresh and exciting for repeat visits. Meanwhile, Khushboo Katara emphasizes the fantastic flavors and crispy textures that make each bite a celebration of culinary ingenuity.

With such a variety of delectable options, it’s wise to arrive early, especially since some favorites may sell out by midday. For those looking to kick-start their day in the best way possible, pairing a pastry with a cup of coffee from the nearby Paper Son Coffee ensures an elevated breakfast experience that’s simply perfect.

In essence, Neighbor Bakehouse is not just a bakery; it’s a celebration of flavors and a space where community thrives. If you’re in San Francisco, make it a point to swing by this hidden gem—you might just find your new favorite pastry, and an experience worth savoring!

We stopped by Neighbor Bakehouse on a Sunday at 8 am. There was plenty of street parking available. As we were walking to get in line (3 parties in front of us), 2 employees rudely pushed past us on the sidewalk. It was clear they were late as the bakery was supposed to open at 8 am but did not open until 8:15 am. We got the char siu croissant, ube croissant, pistachio blackberry croissant, and ginger pull apart. The char sui croissant is more like a Danish but a good alternative for people who like savory pastries. The ube croissant was ok - although the interior was pretty, I thought the ube flavor was lacking. The pistachio blackberry croissant has a nice tartness from the blackberry filling. The ginger pull apart was very unique and delicious - I really like ginger flavored things so I enjoyed it (this is more like real ginger flavor and not gingerbread). I would get all the pastries again except the ube croissant. Overall, I enjoyed the pastries but I think B Patisserie and Arsicault are still my favorite bakeries.

Amazing! Super unique pastries. Loved the char siu croissant and the matcha adzuki croissant bun. They rotate around their daily specials so it's a great place to come back to. No line if you come early in the morning. Paper son coffee is right next to them, so you can start your day off with a perfect coffee and pastry!

I did hear about the bakery from people and decided to go. And indeed it was worth it. I went at 11:30. There was a small queue. I ordered strawberry matcha croissant and ginger pull apart (veg). Both of them were good. It was crispy and flavourful. They have various bread options. Must try

Nice place to have unique croissants. We had mushroom croissants, charsiu croissants, and chocolate hazelnut twice baked croissants. All are yummy. You have to go early as by noon, most of the items are sold out. We got the last mushroom croissants.

We came later in the day so some of the items we were looking for were already sold out. Will definitely come earlier next time! Sarine (?) was very kind and also provided other options that were available that we ended up choosing. The pastries were delicious, but I would come back for the service (if similar from others) alone.

We came here on a weekend afternoon. There was still plenty of bread inside! The server is friendly! Once you walk in, you will smell the sweetness of the bread and it is amazing. I got the ginger pull apart, the raspberry pistachios croissant, mushroom tart and the cream. They are all unique and good! Recommended!

Skip the ginger pull apart, go for the pistachio blackberry croissant and the chocolate hazelnut croissant. Country loaf is good too.
